A tour from Te Anau is the fiord without a car. Te Anau is the largest town in Fiordland,
DOC says, and the gateway to the park. There is no road to Doubtful Sound, so every
trip from here is either a coach, a lake boat and a cruise, or a helicopter.
The coach day runs you 21 km to Manapouri, across the lake to West Arm and over Wilmot
Pass to Deep Cove, where the cruise begins. You are back in town eight and a half to nine
hours later. The flights leave from Te Anau Airport and take one hour or ninety minutes, so
you can fit one into a morning.

You walk to the visitor centre on Lakefront Drive and sit down. The fare covers the drive
